Responsible investing

SJP invests your money responsibly, focusing on long-term financial outcomes to deliver financial wellbeing.

Responsible investing = ESG risks & opportunities + Engagement

Responsible investing doesn't have to be a trade-off between doing the right thing and achieving long-term returns.

SJP expect their fund managers to consider environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities as part of their investment decision making.

Fund managers also regularly engage with businesses on ESG topics to hold them to account and ensure they are making measurable strides towards better practice.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select, and the value can therefore go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invested.

How does SJP invest responsibly?

SJP set high minimum standards for their fund managers. All managers are signed up to the United Nations supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) and have at least one named individual or group dedicated to responsible investment.

The PRI is the industry standard for assessing a firm’s overall approach to responsible investment, and signatories are assessed and scored on their approach.

SJP monitor their fund managers specifically on how they integrate ESG in their investment processes and how they engage with the companies they invest in.

Transitioning to a lower carbon economy

Becoming financially secure is a dream for many of us. But it’s only worthwhile if we have a healthy and sustainable world in which to enjoy that security.

Climate change is an environmental concern globally. St. James's Place joined the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance (NZAOA) in 2020, making a public commitment to achieve net zero across their investments by 2050.

Every year they report the carbon emissions of their investment funds in the TCFD Product Report.

The value of an investment with St. James's Place will be directly linked to the performance of the funds you select, and the value can therefore go down as well as up.  You may get back less than you invested.
